Popular VS. Unpopular

After watching about 5 minutes of an old Tyra Banks episode, I realize that there must be something wrong completely different about America teens.

Being a victim of "bullying" I can honestly say that it isn't as bad as the show is fabricating it to be. All these girls on the show were 14-17 years old, and claim that they have been getting bullied since they were about 12/13 years old.

Alright, so when you're in middle school, everyone is pretty immature and is not uncommon for someone to say something horrible to you. Nearly half of my grade 8 class called me "Nick" after I got a boy cut. Before that, I was called "Seventies" hair by one boy in particular who I thought could have possibly been the meanest person on the planet. He called me this because I have think curly hair that poofs out. I still do. But guess what? He sits behind me in a class, and 3 years later, you wouldn't believe that he would constantly insult someone. I look almost the same as I did before, so that must mean that he grew up. Like most teens do, no one really gets bullied much past grade 10 anymore. Unless you have the odd immature person who still thinks the word "poopy" is hilarious.

The main issue I have with this show is that it seems too unreal. How can Canada and the US be so different? It's not possible. Because I know I am not popular, and I am very similar to those girls who claim to be "unpopular" yet I don't get picked on by popular people. Maybe it's because they're all hungover or totally stoned or maybe it's because you really won't find a 16 year old girl just telling you that you have a lot of acne. What you may find is a cat fight, but those don't just start from the desire to insult someone. There is usually a starting conflict.

Point being that I don't like lies. I don't think that lying on national television and then getting other people to lie to prove your point is going to help you. You obviously have a problems if you honestly believe that people are talking about you all the time.
